BALTIMORE (AP) -Outfielder Luke Scott agreed to a 1-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, avoiding arbitration.
Scott hit .257 with 23 homers and 65 RBIs in 2008, his first season with Baltimore. He joined the Orioles as one of five players traded from Houston in the deal that sent shortstop Miguel Tejada to the Astros.
The 30-year-old Scott has a .266 career batting average, 51 home runs and 170 RBIs in 379 games. He was originally drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the ninth round of the 2001 amateur draft.
