WASHINGTON (AP)-Washington Nationals starter Shawn Hill will go to Cleveland on Thursday for a second opinion on his injured right elbow.
The right-hander was placed on the 15-day disabled list May 14, three days after he left a game against Florida after pitching six no-hit innings.
Hill also strained his left shoulder diving back into a base in a game against the Cubs earlier this month.
He missed all of the 2005 season after Tommy John surgery on his elbow. He made it back for 2006 and went 1-3 in six starts for Washington before elbow soreness ended his season in late June. He had been Washington’s most consistent starting pitcher before going on the DL, going 3-3 with a 2.70 ERA in eight starts.
Hill will be seeing Dr. Mark Schickendantz at the Cleveland Clinic.
Hill is one of four Nationals starting pitchers on the disabled list, along with Jason Bergmann, John Patterson and Jerome Williams.
