PITTSBURGH (AP) -The Chicago White Sox recalled reliever Mike MacDougal from Triple-A Charlotte 11 days after sending him to the minors.
MacDougal, who made four scoreless appearances with Charlotte, had been 1-3 with a 7.13 ERA in 27 games for Chicago this season.
“I didn’t go down with my head down,” MacDougal said after rejoining the White Sox for the start of their three-game interleague series in Pittsburgh Friday. “I just wanted to do what I could to get back up.”
To make room on the roster, the White Sox designated righthander Bret Prinz for assignment. Prinz gave up three earned runs in 3 1-3 innings over four outings with the White Sox, and was 0-1 with a 0.56 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 15 innings for Charlotte.
