CINCINNATI (AP) -Houston catcher Ivan Rodriguez has left the Astros’ game against the Reds after the first inning because of left knee irritation.
Rodriguez, in his 19th major league season, is day-to-day.
The 37-year-old catcher went into Monday’s game hitting .265 with five home runs and 19 RBI. He belted his 300th career home run on May 17 against the Chicago Cubs.
Rodriguez has caught 2,212 games, third on baseball’s career list behind Bob Boone (2,225) and Carlton Fisk (2,226).
