PHOENIX, Ariz. (AP) -Conor Jackson avoided a salary arbitration hearing with the Arizona Diamondbacks when he agreed Tuesday to a one-year contract.
The 26-year-old infielder and outfielder hit .300 with 12 homers and 75 RBIs in 144 games last year. He has a .287 career average with 44 homers and 222 RBIs over parts of four major league seasons.
Jackson had asked for $3.65 million when exchanging proposed arbitration figures with Arizona last month and had been offered $2.45 million. He was eligible for arbitration for the first time after making $419,500 last year.
