CLEVELAND (AP) -Casey Blake extended the longest hitting streak in the majors this season to 26 games with a first-inning single on Sunday.
With two outs, Blake lined a low, outside pitch from Atlanta Braves starter Kyle Davies to right field.
Blake had been tied with Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners for the longest streak this season.
The streak by the Indians’ third baseman is the longest by a Cleveland player since Sandy Alomar, Jr., hit safely in 30 consecutive games in 1997.
