CLEVELAND (AP) -Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Rafael Betancourt left Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees with an apparent leg injury.
After Betancourt threw a ball on a 1-1 pitch to Mark Teixeira in the eighth inning, catcher Kelly Shoppach went to the mound and was followed by manager Eric Wedge and trainer Lonnie Soloff. Betancourt talked with them briefly and left the field without throwing any warmup pitches.
The right-hander entered the game with the Indians leading 4-2 and runners on second and third. His replacement, Matt Herges, gave up a game-tying double to Teixeira.
