KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Kansas City Royals third baseman Alex Gordon has increased his workouts and added light jogging as he tries to return from hip surgery.
Gordon, who had surgery April 17 to repair torn right hip cartilage, took about 60 groundballs and more than 30 swings at the Royals’ spring training complex in Surprise, Ariz., on Friday. No timetable has been set for his return.
Royals catcher John Buck, out since May 30 with a back injury, says he is feeling better after progressing to water treatment. Right-hander Sidney Ponson (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Thursday and could throw another this weekend, and righty reliever Robinson Tejeda made it through his first rehab assignment on Wednesday without any setbacks.
