DENVER (AP) -The Colorado Rockies may be more than just a mile high if they land in the World Series.
Denver-based Frontier Airlines is negotiating with DirecTV for permission to show the World Series on its flights if the Rockies win their first NL pennant. Colorado began Monday with a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven NL championship series against Arizona.
While Frontier Airlines offers satellite TV on flights, its contract does include Fox, so it is negotiating with DirecTV to get permission to show the World Series if the Rockies are participants, airline spokesman Joe Hodas said Monday.
Frontier also needs to make sure it has the rights to air live television.
“We are trying very hard to get that squared away,” Hodas said.
DirecTV spokesman Robert Mercer declined comment Monday. Major League Baseball wasn’t sure whether its permission was needed.
JetBlue Airways Corp. will offer the World Series free of charge to passengers through its current DirecTV contract, company spokesman Bryan Baldwin said.
Frontier shows the Super Bowl on its flights every year.
