NEW YORK (AP) -Bruce Froemming was picked Thursday as the crew chief and home plate umpire for the All-Star game.
In his 37th year of major league service, Froemming also umpired the All-Star game in 1975 and 1986. He has worked five World Series, 10 league championship series and eight division series.
At the July 10 game in San Francisco, Froemming will be joined by Charlie Reliford (first base), Mike Winters (second base), Kerwin Danley (third base), Ted Barrett (left field) and Bill Miller (right field). Reliford and Winters will be working their second All-Star games, with the rest appearing for the first time.
Paul Hoynes (The Plain Dealer in Cleveland), Andrew Baggarly (San Jose Mercury News) and Chuck Dybdal (San Francisco and Oakland scorer) will be the official scorers.
In the July 8 All-Star Futures game, the umpires will be David Rackley (home plate) and John Brammer (first base) of the Texas League, Jason Bradley (second base) of the Southern League and Francis Burke (third base) of the Eastern League.
