SEATTLE (AP) -Former Seattle Mariners general manager Woody Woodward is rejoining the organization as a scout.
Woodward’s addition was one of three moves the Mariners announced Thursday. The team also hired Steve Hecht as the organization’s performance coach, focusing on mental training. Hecht spent the last three years with the Texas Rangers in the same position.
Seattle also added Joe Nigro as a scout, focusing on major league and minor league teams.
Woodward was Seattle’s GM from 1989-1999. His scouting duties will be focused in the Southeast and include spring training, and both major league and minor league assignments.
