MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Outfielders Lew Ford and Josh Rabe and DH Matthew LeCroy declined assignments by the Minnesota Twins to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday and will become free agents.
Ford has spent the past six years in the Twins organization after being acquired in a trade with Boston in 2000. He batted .233 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in 55 games during an injury-filled 2007.
The 32-year-old LeCroy was a September call-up, appearing in seven games and batting .150. The catcher and DH has said he would like to continue his career, which included five years in the Twins organization and one year with Washington.
Rabe hit .194 in 14 games, but missed most of the season after having shoulder surgery.
The Twins also reinstated pitchers Francisco Liriano and Jesse Crain and catcher Jose Morales from the 60-day disabled list and reliever Dennys Reyes from the 15-day DL.
Infielder Alejandro Machado was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list and accepted an outright assignment to Rochester.
