LOS ANGELES (AP) – The Dodgers activated Matt Kemp from the disabled list after outfielder missed 24 games because of a right hamstring strain and put him in the starting lineup Tuesday against San Francisco.
Kemp is batting .251 with two homers and 15 RBIs. He has struck out 60 times in 191 at-bats following shoulder surgery last October. The Dodgers were 11-13 without him.
Kemp, a two-time All-Star, was injured May 29 while running down a double in right-center by Mike Trout at Angel Stadium. It was the fourth time in Kemp’s eight-year career he has been on the DL, including two stints last season because of a left hamstring strain that cost him 51 games.
Kemp was 0 for 5 with four strikeouts on Saturday in the first of three rehab games with Triple-A Albuquerque. He finished his stint 2 for 6 with two doubles.
