PHOENIX (AP) -Arizona parted ways with Byung-Hyun Kim again Wednesday following two awful starts by the right-hander since the Diamondbacks acquired him.
Kim was designated for assignment, meaning the team has 10 days to trade, release or send him outright to the minors.
The former Diamondbacks closer lasted only 17 pitches in Arizona’s 14-5 loss at Florida on Tuesday night. He retired one batter and allowed four runs, three earned, to boost his ERA to 23.62 in two starts with Arizona.
The Diamondbacks claimed Kim off waivers from Florida, hoping to make him their No. 5 starter.
“It just didn’t work out,” Arizona general manager Josh Byrnes said, adding that other roster moves were planned later in the day.
The Diamondbacks entered play Wednesday leading the NL West race by two games over San Diego.
