CHICAGO (AP) -The Chicago Cubs brought up left-hander Carmen Pignatiello and recalled infielder/outfielder Jake Fox from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.
In corresponding moves, right-hander Sean Gallagher and infielder Eric Patterson were optioned to Iowa. The Cubs also transferred catcher Henry Blanco, who’s been out because of a neck injury, to the 60-day disabled list.
Pignatiello was 2-0 with four saves in 48 relief appearances between Double-A Tennessee and Iowa this season. The 24-year-old lefty is in his eighth minor league season.
Fox appeared in two games for the Cubs last month. Since he was returned to Iowa he batted .328 with five homers and 13 RBIs in 15 games.
Gallagher had no record and a 7.82 ERA in seven games for the Cubs.
Patterson appeared in five games with Chicago since being called up earlier this month, going 1-for-6.
