ATLANTA (AP) -Mark Kotsay hit a seventh-inning double off Chicago Cubs reliever Bob Howry to become the first Atlanta Braves player to hit for the cycle since 1987.
Kotsay drove in a run with a second-inning triple. He also homered in the fourth and singled in the sixth against Ted Lilly.
The only other Atlanta player to hit for the cycle was Albert Hall on Sept. 23, 1987.
The double was the 1,500th hit of Kotsay’s career.
The only other Braves players to hit for the cycle played for Boston: Duff Cooley in 1904, John Bates in 1907 and William Collins in 1910.
