ATLANTA (AP) -The Atlanta Braves asked for waivers on right-handed pitcher Lance Cormier on Friday for the purpose of granting his unconditional release.
The move came less than a week after Cormier was removed from the team’s 40-man roster to clear a spot for lefty Tom Glavine.
The 27-year-old Cormier was 2-6 with a 7.09 in 10 games, including nine starts, for the Braves last season. He was 0-2 with a 15.46 ERA before the All-Star break and was 2-4 with a 5.45 after the break.
Cormier has a career record of 14-18 with a 5.98 ERA, including two years with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2004-05).
