TORONTO (AP)-Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis left the game against the Toronto Blue Jays in the sixth inning Tuesday night after he was hit in the leg by a pitch. Youkilis suffered a contusion and is day-to-day.
Youkilis fell to the ground after being hit just above his left knee. Trainer Paul Lessard and manager Terry Francona came out to check on Youkilis, who was able to stand and limp off the field without assistance. He was replaced by Eric Hinske.
Youkilis homered in the first inning and singled in the third and fourth before he was hit by Blue Jays reliever Casey Janssen.
A four-year veteran, Youkilis is batting .306 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 29 games this season.
