ST. LOUIS (AP) -Houston Astros pitcher Chris Sampson was scratched from his start Friday night due to sinus problems.
Woody Williams replaced Sampson in the opener of a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, pitching on regular rest. Williams, 0-4 with a 5.66 ERA, had been scheduled to start on Saturday.
Manager Phil Garner said Sampson, 3-1 with a 3.55 ERA, was taking antibiotics and will be slotted back into the rotation in a day or two.
