Dodgers still the NL Favorite
The Los Angeles Dodgers made a pretty noteworthy trade with the Cincinnati Reds last weekend. Did it improve their chances to win the World Series?
According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Dodgers are now currently listed with 13/2 odds to win the World Series. The Boston Red Sox are the favorite with 6/1 odds while both the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees each have 7/1 odds. The Dodgers are the favorite to win the NLCS, sitting with 4/1 odds right now.
The trade between the Reds and the Dodgers was a seven-player trade that sent Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood and Kyle Farmer to Cincinnati for Homer Bailey, Jeter Downs and Josiah Gray. The Dodgers released Bailey up completion of the trade. The deal cleared up $70 million in salary space for the Dodgers, who can now be aggressive in the free agent market.
Kemp hit .290 in the 2018 season for the Dodgers and had 25 doubles with 21 home runs and 85 RBI. Puig hit .267 with 23 home runs, 21 doubles, 63 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Wood pitched in 33 games and had a 3.68 ERA with a 9-7 record, 135 strikeouts and 40 walks.
The trade didn’t do much for the Reds chances to win the World Series. They are currently listed with 80/1 odds to win the championship next season and 40/1 odds to win the NLCS.
