From Rotoworld: Cain held the Dodgers to one run in 6 2/3 innings to win Monday night. It’s safe to say Giants fans would have been feeling pretty good about things had they’d known the team would go 5-3 in Cain’s first eight starts this year. Unfortunately, the Giants are 11-21 the rest of the time. Cain has been really solid in going 3-1 with a 4.04 ERA. He’s allowed one or no runs five times.
Wainwright delivered seven shutout innings Sunday in the Cardinals’ defeat of the Cubs. Wainwright issued four walks and only struck out three, but the veteran right-hander held a dangerous Cubs lineup to four hits with a varied mix of fastballs, cutters, and curves. Wainwright lowered his ERA from 6.37 all the way to 5.31.
Bet Today’s Giants vs. Cardinals Game
OUR PREDICTION: As of this writing, the lineups for this game aren’t out yet. That said, after the two teams played extra innings last night, Buster Posey probably won’t be behind the plate. This is a good chance for Bruce Bochy to rest his star ahead of a new series opening tomorrow in Chicago against the Cubs. Wainwright is coming off his best outing of the year and the Cards are desperate to end a four-game losing skid and avoid a sweep. The Redbirds are pricey, but they’re the best play here.
