Nats open up five-run lead in win
Washington scored twice in the first inning and three more times in the second to take a 5-0 lead en route to a 12-2 victory Saturday at the Rockies. Adam Eaton finished the contest 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI in the win. Trea Turner was 3-for-6 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs. Bryce Harper finished 2-for-5 with a walk and two runs. Juan Soto ended the game 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two runs and four RBIs. Matt Wieters was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run. Wilmer Difo was 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Stephen Strasburg earned the win as he allowed two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks over six innings.
Gonzalez, Arenado homer in loss
Nolan Arenado was 1-for-4 with a solo home run in yesterday’s home loss to the Nats, dropping Colorado to a first-place tie in the NL West with the Dodgers heading into today’s final day of the regular season. Carlos Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Ian Desmond went 1-for-2 and also drew a walk. Jon Gray took the loss as he gave up five earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and no walk over two innings.
Tyler Anderson (6-9, 4.76 ERA) will start today for Colorado, while the visitors counter with Erick Fedde (2-3, 5.24).
MLB Betting Trends
Washington
The Nationals are 10-4 in their last 14 road games. Washington is 4-1 in its last five games overall.
Colorado
The Rockies are 5-1 in their last six games versus a team with a winning record. Colorado is 13-3 in its last 15 games versus the NL East.
Prediction:
I’d really love to make a spoiler pick here, but I think the Rockies will rebound strong. Fedde is no Strasburg and he faces a Colorado team that is 46-34 at home this season. While Anderson leaves a bit to be desired, I think the run support he’ll receive will be enough to push the hosts through. Additionally, the Rockies bullpen has been fantastic during their recent run.
