Nationals Season Odds
The Washington Nationals are filled with potential, but now it has to come to the forefront and produce in 2009.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made the Nationals 125/1 long shots to win the 2009 World Series and established their National League Pennant odds at 65/1.
There’s little doubt that the Nationals are going to struggle this season. The bullpen doesn’t have a recognizable name among the group and the starting pitching is filled with unproven arms in John Lannan, Scott Olsen and Daniel Cabrera.
But the good news is that the offense is filled with young potential, in Lastings Milledge and Elijah Dukes (when he plays), and a decent 3-4 pop in the middle of the order with Adam Dunn and Ryan Zimmerman.
After the Rays shocked the baseball world last year by making a World Series run, it’s hard to count any team out. While the Nationals are expected to struggle, don’t count them completely out. Again remember, Tampa was a 150/1 long shot to win the World Series last year and they shocked everyone by playing in October.
