Updated 2016 World Series Odds – Cubs Still Favored to win Fall Classic 10/3/16

Updated 2016 World Series Odds

After winning a MLB-best 103 games in 2016, the Chicago Cubs remain favored to win the World Series.

With the playoff field now set in baseball, the Cubs are a 9/4 favorite to win the World Series according to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv. The Red Sox have the next-best odds at 11/2, while the Rangers are 6/1 to win this year’s Fall Classic and the Nationals are 7/1.

Continuing with the odds, the Indians are 8/1 to win the World Series while the Dodgers are 10/1 and the Blue Jays are 12/1. The long shots are the Mets at 16/1, the Giants at 18/1, and the Orioles at 20/1.

Bet 2016 World Series Futures Odds

Best Value: San Francisco Giants

The Giants’ horrific collapse after the All-Star Break nearly cost them a chance to make the playoffs. They went from up seven games on the Dodgers in the NL West to winning the second wild card by one game over the Cardinals. But the Giants looked like a different team over the weekend, sweeping the Dodgers at AT&T Park despite facing L.A.’s best: Rich Hill, Clayton Kershaw and Kenta Maeda. Since 2010, the Giants have won every postseason elimination game that they’ve played in and won’t be intimidated by the bright lights of the postseason. Granted, they’ve got a tough row to hoe just to make it to the World Series, but they won it all as the second wild card in 2014 so it’s not impossible.

Worst Value: Cleveland Indians

The Indians were the only Major League team to not suffer at least four losses in a row this season but they enter the postseason completely banged up. Corey Kluber is dealing with a quad injury, Danny Salazar is sidelined with a forearm injury, and Carlos Carrasco is out with a hand injury. Instead of boasting one of the better rotations heading into the playoffs, the Indians will rely on Trevor Bauer, an injured Kluber and Josh Tomlin for their first three ALDS matchups against the red-hot Red Sox.
