Blue Jays bounce back
After a 4-0 loss to the Yankees on Friday night, Toronto bounced back on Saturday with a 2-1 win at New York. Toronto is 35-58 on the season, 17-28 on the road and 45-45 with the over/under total. The Jays have Marcus Stroman on the mound today. He is 5-9 on the season with a 3.18 ERA.
It was pitching by committee for Toronto on Saturday, but it worked well. Clayton Richard went just two innings before exiting the game. The Jays used six pitchers on the night, with Joe Biagini getting the win and Daniel Hudson earning his second save. At the plate, the Jays put up two runs in the sixth inning. They came on a two-run single from Randal Grichuk. He had two hits in the victory.
Yankees hitting cold spell
The Yankees suffered a 2-1 loss on Saturday and they have scored 9 runs total over their last four games. New York is now 58-32 on the season, 32-15 at home and 48-39 with the over. New York has Masahiro Tanaka on the mound today. He is 5-5 on the year with a 3.86 ERA.
J.A. Happ pitched 5.1 innings and he gave up both runs to take the loss on Saturday. Happ is now 7-5 on the year. New York had eight hits in the loss, all of which were singles. Aaron Judge had four of the eight hits and drove in the lone run. Brett Gardner had two singles in the loss as well
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 1-4 in their last five road games and 5-14 in their last 19 Game 3’s of a series.
New York
The Yankees have won Tanaka’s last five starts and 77 of their last 111 games following a loss.
Prediction:
Stroman hasn’t pitched too bad for Toronto this year, but hasn’t gotten a lot of help from his team. Still, he has allowed at leas three runs in four of his last six starts. Tanaka is in a bit of a funk himself, giving up 10 runs over his last seven innings of work. Given the fact that New York is not hitting the ball right now and facing Toronto’s best arm, I will take my chances on them as a big underdog. New York doesn’t have a lot of value straight up and they aren’t produce enough runs to go with the run line.
MLB Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays +180
