Blue Jays winning on the road
Toronto is coming off its second consecutive road series win entering the weekend. The Jays defeated Baltimore after beating Texas last weekend. Toronto is now 4-2 on the road and averaging 4.92 runs per game while allowing just 3.77 per contest.
Marcus Stroman is making his third start of the season. He is struggling so far in two starts, losing to the Rangers in Texas while taking a no-decision against the Yankees. Over 9.2 innings pitched, Stroman has allowed nine runs with eight walks and 11 strikeouts.
Cleveland on a hot streak
The Indians are coming off a four-game sweep of the Tigers at home to improve to 5-1 at home and 8-5 overall. The Tribe have allowed just nine runs over their last seven games and are giving up just an average of 2.85 runs per game on the season. Offensively, Cleveland isn’t doing a great job, averaging just 3.46 runs per contest.
Mike Clevinger is getting the start tonight. He has started two games this season and has allowed just one run over 12.2 innings. Clevinger has nine strikeouts with four walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are just 4-15 in their last 19 Friday games and 7-16 in their last 23 games following a day off. Toronto also has lost Stroman’s last six Friday starts.
Cleveland
Along with the hot start at home this season, Cleveland has won 39 of its last 51 home games overall. The Tribe have also won 14 of Clevinger’s last 17 starts overall and his last seven home starts.
Prediction:
While Toronto has played well on the road, Stroman hasn’t been playing well overall. I see him struggling on the road tonight while Clevinger should continue his strong start to the season. The Indians pitching is hard to produce runs on, especially in Cleveland.
The Pick: Cleveland Indians -130
