M’s struggle again
Seattle lost by a count of 9-2 Saturday night at Los Angeles to drop to 39-57 overall and 20-28 on the road. Mallex Smith paced the Mariners offense as he went 1-for-2 with a triple, two walks, two stolen bases and a run scored from the top of the lineup. J.P. Crawford was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Daniel Vogelbach finished 2-for-3 plus a walk. Wade LeBlanc took the loss as he gave up six earned runs on 10 hits over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Yusei Kikuchi draws the start today for Seattle as he enters with a 4-6 record, 4.94 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 73 strikeouts over 98 1/3 innings.
Pujols guides Angles to win
Los Angeles dominated Seattle again Saturday night to the tune of 9-2 to improve to 47-46 overall and 24-21 at home. Albert Pujols helped lead the Angels offense as he went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Mike Trout finished 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Kole Calhoun ended the night 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Matt Harvey picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks over 5 2/3 innings. Jose Suarez gets the start today for LA as he comes in with a 2-1 record, 5.40 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with 30 strikeouts over 28 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 21-46 in their last 67 games overall. Seattle is 9-27 in its last 36 road games.
Los Angeles
The Angels are 1-4 in their last five Sunday games. Los Angeles is 1-4 in its last five games versus a left-handed starting pitcher.
Prediction:
With the way these two teams are trending, I wouldn’t touch Seattle with a 10-foot pole right now. Kikuchi pitched better his last start, but he hasn’t exactly been lighting the world on fire in his first MLB season. Although Suarez isn’t great, either is the Seattle offense and I put far more trust in the Angels offense supporting their pitcher. Take the favorites in this spot.
