Madison Bumgarner will toe the rubber for the Giants after having issues with his mechanics during spring training. He also battled recent oblique and foot injuries but he says his struggles are mechanical and not physical. The ace should be fine over the course of the season, but could struggle to keep the Brewers off the scoreboard today.

The Brewers, meanwhile, will send Wily Peralta to the hill for the opener. He allowed three unearned runs over four innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Reds in spring training. He wrapped up his Cactus League schedule with a 6.30 ERA in 20 innings so he should serve up plenty of offense today as well, especially versus the Giants’ stacked offense.
Usually the pitchers are ahead of the hitters early in the regular season but given Bumgarner’s struggles and Peralta’s issues this spring, offense should be on display today at Miller Park.
