Giants’ Stratton suffers first horrible start of 2018
Chris Stratton was demolished for six runs in 1 1/3 innings during Saturday’s loss to the Dodgers. He gave up back-to-back RBI singles in the first inning and also walked in a run. The next inning was worse. He gave up a solo homer to Chase Utley, an RBI-triple to Cody Bellinger and another RBI-triple to Joc Pederson. It took Stratton 63 pitches to get four outs. He yielded six hits, issued four walks and fanned three batters in the first game of a double-header. This was his first clunker outing of the season as he falls to 2-2 with a 3.90 ERA after six starts.
Braves’ Foltynewicz beats Phillies in last start
Mike Foltynewicz allowed one run in six innings to earn a 4-1 win over the Phillies on Saturday. He struck out six batsmen while scattering three hits and two walks in the premium outing. The only run he surrendered came on a Maikel Franco solo shot in the fifth inning. Foltynewicz is having a breakout campaign — he is now 2-1 with a stellar 2.53 ERA after six starts. He has 39 punchouts in 32 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants have won four of their last five games overall but are just 23-47 in their last 70 road games.
Atlanta
The Braves have won five straight and are 13-3 in their last 16 games versus a team with a winning record.
Prediction:
Despite the Braves being hot, I’m going to take a flier on the underdog here. The Giants are 4-1 in Stratton’s last five starts, are 5-0 in his last five outings when he pitches game one of a series, and are 4-1 in their last five games played on Friday. On the other side, the Braves are 2-11 in Foltynewicz’s last 13 starts overall, are 1-5 in his last six home outings, and are 0-4 in his last four starts on Friday.
The Pick: San Francisco Giants +131
