Dyson blows save in loss
The Giants led 8-7 in the ninth inning at home yesterday versus the Rockies, but Sam Dyson gave up two runs and it ended as a 9-8 defeat. Dyson allowed the two earned runs on two hits in one inning of work, giving up a 2-run homer to D.J. LeMahieu. Alen Hanson helped pace the San Francisco offense as he went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Brandon Belt finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Andrew McCutchen was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Pablo Sandoval ended the game 2-for-5 with a run. Gorkys Hernandez was 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI.
Greinke throws seven shutout innings
Arizona lost the series opener at the Marlins, but rebounded with three straight wins as it won Thursday afternoon’s finale 4-0. Zack Greinke earned the win as he threw seven shutout innings, giving up seven hits with six strikeouts and no walks. Paul Goldschmidt was 3-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI. Jake Lamb went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run. Nick Ahmed finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Greinke helped his own cause by going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Andrew Suarez (2-4, 4.43 ERA) will start today for San Francisco, while Patrick Corbin (6-3, 3.24) goes for the D-backs.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 24-49 in their last 73 road games. The over is 6-2-1 in Suarez’s last nine starts overall.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 19-7 in their last 26 games overall. The over is 6-2 in Corbin’s last eight starts versus San Francisco.
Prediction:
Suarez has been very hittable lately and Corbin has even showed some cracks in his armor. While a bet on the streaking Diamondbacks isn’t a bad choice at all, I think the total here looks a little low. Take advantage as Arizona should get to Suarez, while the Giants offense looked great yesterday in their pitcher-friendly park.
