Padres’ Ross pitches well in victory over Pirates
Tyson Ross pitched well again in Friday’s victory over the Pirates, allowing two runs on five hits over six strong frames. The 31-year-old hurler walked four and struck out two on the night. The Pirates scratched out single runs against him in the first and third innings, but Ross settled in nicely afterwards and was able to avoid any further damage. He has been a pleasant surprise for the Padres this season, registering a 3.35 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 55/22 K/BB ratio over 53 2/3 innings in his first nine starts.
Fedde to make spot start for Nationals vs. Padres
Erick Fedde will make a spot start for the Nationals on Wednesday against the Padres. Fedde holds a somewhat underwhelming 4.35 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 42/13 K/BB ratio in 41 1/3 innings (eight starts) this season at Triple-A, but the former top-100 prospect could have some fantasy streaming appeal against the lowly Friars. This will be his appearance at the MLB level in 2018. He had a 9.39 ERA in 15 1/3 innings with Washington last year.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 1-4 in their last five games in Washington and have dropped five of their last six overall versus the Padres.
Washington
The under is 8-2-2 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams and is 6-2-1 in the last nine meetings in Washington.
Prediction:
This is a good spot to take the Padres, as they have the advantage in the pitching matchup. They’re also 4-0 in the last four games during the third game of a series and are 6-2 in their last eight games versus a right-handed starter. On the other side, the Nationals are just 2-6 in their last eight home games versus a team with a losing record.
The Pick: San Diego Padres +115
