Randy Arozarena went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and a run scored as the Rays beat the Astros 5-2 in Game 3 of the ALCS on Tuesday. The third-inning double off Astros starter Jose Urquidy was Arozarena’s eighth extra-base hit of this 2020 postseason, and he is now one extra-base hit shy of tying BJ Upton (2008) and Evan Longoria (2008) for the most extra-base hits (nine) in a single postseason in Rays history. The 25-year-old should have plenty more chances to set a new mark given that Tampa Bay is now up 3-0 over Houston in the best-of-seven ALCS with an opportunity to punch a ticket to the World Series in ALCS Game 4 on Wednesday. Arozarena, who’s quickly becoming a star, boasts a .462 batting average (18-for-39) since the playoffs began on September 29.
Houston Astros DFS Spin
Jose Altuve finished 2-for-4 with a homer and a walk in the Astros’ ALCS Game 3 loss to the Rays on Tuesday night. Altuve continued to have serious problems defensively — it looks to be a case of the yips — but he’s doing his best to not let it carry over into his plate appearances. The star second baseman slugged a first-inning solo shot to left off Rays starter Ryan Yarbrough for his 17th career postseason home run, tying George Springer on the Astros’ franchise postseason home run leaderboard. Altuve had a chance to get Houston back into the game with two men on in the bottom of the ninth but got called out on what looked to be a proper check swing. Such is life right now for Altuve and the ‘Stros, who will be facing elimination in Game 4 on Wednesday.
