Pirates end losing streak
The Pittsburgh Pirates had their seven-game losing streak come to an end on Friday in an 11-0 win at Miami. The Pirates are 31-38 on the season, 18-20 on the road and 42-26 with the over. Pittsburgh has Dario Agrazal getting his first start of the season today.
After three scoreless innings, Pittsburgh started to break out in the fourth inning and finished the game with 18 hits. Josh Bell had a hit with two runs and two RBI in the win. He now has 63 RBI for the season. Colin Moran had three hits with five RBI while Bryan Reynolds had four hits with three runs scored. Steven Brault improved to 3-1 on the mound with six scoreless innings. He allowed just eight hits with six strikeouts.
Marlins get blanked
Miami was coming off a 9-0 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday, but then were shutout last night by the Pirates. The Marlins are now 24-43 on the season, 12-20 on the road and 33-31 with the under. Miami will have Pablo Lopez getting the start today. He is 4-5 on the season with a 4.26 ERA.
The Marlins were lit up on Friday, with Trevor Richards taking the loss to fall to 3-7 on the year. He gave up 11 hits over five innings, allowing five earned runs. Miami did have nine hits at the plate, but the Marlins stranded 10 runs. Starlin Castro was the lone batter with a pair of hits.
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are just 1-7 in their last eight road games and 1-6 in their last seven games following a win.
Miami
The Marlins are 15-39 in their last 54 games following a loss and 1-4 in their last five against NL Central opponents.
Prediction:
Lopez has had three straight strong outings, allowing just two runs over his last 18 innings on the mound. Agrazal is making his MLB debut tonight, so that can always be a little on the shaky side. While Pittsburgh beat up on Miami pitching last night, that hasn’t been a trend for the Pirates lately. I think Miami will be able to put up a few runs on Agrazal and grind out the win at home.
MLB Prediction: Miami Marlins -135
