Pirates on massive skid
Pittsburgh is on an eight-game losing streak right now after being swept in St. Louis this weekend. The Pirates are 48-69 overall, 24-37 on the road and 67-46 with the over. Mitch Keller gets the start tonight. He is 0-1 on the season with a 10.50 ERA.
The Pirates are struggling on the mound this year, posting a 5.07 team ERA with a 1.43 team WHIP. At the plate, Pittsburgh is averaging 4.65 runs per game while batting .264 as a squad. Josh Bell is leading the team with 36 doubles, 29 home runs and 93 RBI while Starling Marte is adding 24 doubles, 20 home runs and 69 RBI.
Angels trying to build momentum
The Angels ended a long road trip with back-to-back wins over the Red Sox in Boston this weekend. Los Angeles is 58-61 on the season, 29-28 at home and 56-56 with the over/under total. The Angels have Jose Suarez on the mound today. He is 2-3 on the season with a 6.22 ERA.
Los Angeles is also struggling on the mound this season. The Angels have a 5.02 team ERA with a 1.38 team WHIP. At the plate, the Angels are putting up 5.01 runs per game while batting .252. MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 6-1 in their last seven interleague road games but are 20-42 in their last 62 games following a loss.
Los Angeles
The Angels have won their last seven interleague home games against a right-handed starter and 24 of their last 32 interleague home games.
Prediction:
The Pirates are a mess right now and Keller is taking the mound for the first time in nearly two months. He has given up 16 runs over 12 innings of work for the season. Suarez hasn’t been great either, giving up 10 runs over his last 9.1 innings. Despite that, the Angels seem to be struggling a little less than the Pirates right now and Los Angeles has the home field for the game. I would expect their hitters to be able to beat up on Keller.
MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Angels -145
