Phillies roll to win in opener
Philadelphia posted a 6-1 victory Friday night at Pittsburgh to improve to 51-47 overall and 21-26 on the road. Adam Haseley helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. J.T. Realmuto went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Bryce Harper ended the contest 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Juan Nicasio picked up the win in relief as he retired the only batter he faced. Cole Irvin notched the save as he gave up one hit while striking out one and walking none over two scoreless frames. Zach Eflin draws the start tonight as he enters with a 7-9 record, 4.16 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 88 strikeouts over 106 innings.
Dickerson has three-hit night
Pittsburgh lost by a score of 6-1 Friday night at home versus Philadelphia to drop to 45-51 overall and 22-22 at home. Corey Dickerson led the Pirates offense as he ended the game a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Colin Moran finished 2-for-3 with a double. Elias Diaz went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Richard Rodriguez took the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on two hits with 1 1/3 innings, striking out one and walking two. Joe Musgrove gets the start tonight for Pittsburgh as he comes in with a 6-8 record, 4.31 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 90 strikeouts over 104 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 0-4 in their last Saturday games. Philadelphia is 1-5 in the last six Eflin starts.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 9-3 in their last 12 home games. Pittsburgh is 4-0 in the last four Musgrove starts.
Prediction:
Philadelphia had no issues getting the game one victory and I like its chances again today as dogs. Eflin has been inconsistent this season, but he’s been very good at times and Musgrove has also been pretty up-and-down. The Pirates appear to be fading and with Philadelphia right in the thick of the NL Wild Card race with two-plus months left, games like this on the road can make or break those postseason chances.
