A’s win again at Cleveland
Oakland earned a 5-3 victory Tuesday night at Cleveland to improve to 24-25 overall and 10-15 on the road. Mark Canha came off the bench after a second-inning injury to Khris Davis and helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Jurickson Profar went 1-for-1 with a solo home run and a walk. Matt Chapman was 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Liam Hendriks picked up the win in relief as he threw two scoreless innings while allowing one hit plus no walks and striking out one. Frankie Montas will start tonight for the Athletics as he comes in with a 5-2 record, 2.67 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 52 strikeouts over 54 innings.
Bauer struggles in defeat
Cleveland lost 5-3 at home Tuesday night against Oakland to fall to 25-22 overall and 14-10 at home. Trevor Bauer suffered the loss as he surrendered four earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and four walks over six innings. Carlos Santana helped lead the Indians offense as he was 1-for-2 with a solo homer plus two walks. Francisco Lindor was 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Oscar Mercado finished 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jefry Rodriguez starts tonight for Cleveland as he enters with a 1-3 record, 3.45 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 20 strikeouts over 31 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The Athletics are 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games. Oakland is 5-2 in the last seven Montas starts.
Cleveland
The Indians are 21-7 in their last 28 Wednesday games. Cleveland is 1-5 in its last six games versus the AL West.
Prediction:
Oakland is in a good spot right now and have the better pitcher on the mound as it goes for the sweep. Montas has come into his own this season and will face a Cleveland lineup that hasn’t really hit its stride this season. Rodriguez gives up a lot of contact and has allowed a home run a little more than once every seven innings in his career. The A’s have the power hitters to touch him up and they shouldn’t need a ton of offense with Montas in a groove lately.
