Rain keeps A’s from sweep
Oakland won its first three games at Detroit and was in position to get the sweep Sunday afternoon when rain hit, leaivng the A’s leading 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Athletics have won 15 straight games against Detroit. The game is scheduled to resume on September 16. Stephen Piscotty is 2-for-4 in the contest with a double and three RBIs. Marcus Semien has gone 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a run and an RBI. Ramon Laureano is 2-for-3 with a run. Mike Fiers is in line for the win as he threw the first six innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Indians pound O’s
Cleveland rolled to a 10-0 home victory Sunday afternoon over Baltimore to improve to 25-20 on the season and 14-8 at home. Shane Bieber was sensational in the victory as he threw a complete-game shutout, striking out 15 on a five-hitter with no walks. Carlos Santana helped pace the offense as he went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Francisco Lindor was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk and two runs. Oscar Mercado was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI. Carlos Carrasco will start tonight for the Indians as he enters with a 4-3 record, 4.18 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 62 strikeouts over 47 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The Athletics are 4-11 in their last 15 road games. Oakland is 2-9 in the last 11 Anderson starts on the road.
Cleveland
The Indians are 5-1 in their last six home games. Cleveland is 6-1 in the last seven Carrasco starts on a Monday.
Prediction:
The last four games for the A’s on the road can be taken with a grain of salt considering it was at Detroit. Carrasco will present a much bigger challenge for the bats, while Anderson hasn’t fooled a lot of people this season. While the Indians had an easier opponent over the weekend as well, they stay at home and I like the way they are showing a little more focus lately. Taking the hosts here.
