A’s Anderson shelled in loss to Astros in last start
Brett Anderson gave up nine runs in three innings in a loss to the Astros on Monday. If you’re looking for a positive, only seven runs were earned. Anderson was shelled in this one, giving up 10 hits and also walking three just to rub salt in the wound. The first start of the year for the 30-year-old was promising against Seattle. This was awful. Anderson will try to find a happy medium on Sunday, but you’d be foolish to trust him when he pitches against the loaded Yankees’ lineup.
Yankees’ Severino strikes out 11 in gem vs. Red Sox
Luis Severino was electric again Tuesday against the Red Sox, whiffing 11 across six-plus innings while being charged with two runs in a 3-2 Yankees win. One run was charged to Severino’s ledger in the fifth inning after Gary Sanchez failed to corral a third strike to lead off the frame. The other crossed the plated after he was pulled in the seventh, which led to a no-decision. He permitted six base knocks and didn’t walk anyone. Severino has now shut down the Astros and Red Sox in back-to-back starts, giving up just the two runs while posting a ridiculous 21/1 K/BB ratio over 15 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are 5-1 in their last six games against the Yankees but are winless at 0-5 in Anderson’s last five starts versus the Bombers.
New York
The over has now cashed in five of the last seven meetings between the Yankees and A’s.
Prediction:
Brett Anderson plus the Yankees’ lineup plus a hitter-friendly ballpark equals plenty of runs. The over is 5-1 in Anderson’s last six starts overall, is 4-1 in his last five road outings and is 10-1-2 in his last 13 starts after scoring five runs or more in their previous game. On the other side, the over is 11-3 in Severino’s last 14 home starts, is 7-1 in his last eight outings versus a team with a losing record and is 6-2 in his last eight starts on Sunday.
The Pick: A’s/Yankees over 8.5
