A’s Manaea pitches 6 2/3 strong innings in no-decision vs. Giants
Sean Manaea held the Giants to two runs over 6 2/3 innings Sunday in a no-decision. Oakland would go on to win the game in the bottom of the 10th, courtesy of a walk-off RBI single by Matt Chapman. Manaea pitched well, yielding only four hits while striking out five and issuing zero walks. The 26-year-old left-hander is 9-6 on the season with a 3.38 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 88/24 K/BB ratio in 130 1/3 innings. Up next is a tough matchup against the Rockies at Coors Field.
Rockies’ Freeland uninspiring vs. Diamondbacks
Kyle Freeland surrendered four runs on five hits over five innings while taking a no-decision in Saturday’s win over the Diamondbacks. Freeland struck out three and walked three on the evening. He was knocked for three runs in the fourth inning and one more in the fifth before he was relieved of duty. While this start does little to move the needle in the positive direction, maybe chalk it up to a bit of post-All-Star break rust. Even with this wobbly outing under his belt, Freeland is still pitching to a solid 3.28 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 95/41 K/BB ratio across 120 2/3 frames. He’ll look to shape up from Saturday’s lackluster show in a home date with the A’s when he next toes the rubber.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are 7-1 in Manaea’s last eight starts.
Colorado
The Rockies are 4-0 in Freeland’s last four outings.
Prediction:
The A’s are hot and they’ve had success in previous meetings with the Rockies so they’re an intriguing underdog play tonight. Oakland is a perfect 4-0 in its last four games in Colorado and 5-1 in its last six games versus the Rockies overall. The A’s are also 21-5 in their last 26 games overall, are 10-2 in their last 12 games versus National League West opponents and are 5-0 in their last five games versus a left-handed starter.
The Pick: Oakland A’s +106
