Ramos has huge night at dish
New York posted a 7-5 victory Saturday night at Pittsburgh to move to 54-56 overall and 26-36 on the road. Wilson Ramos led the offensive effort as he finished 4-for-5 with a home run, a double and six RBIs. Jeff McNeil was 2-for-2 with a solo homer off the bench. Amed Rosario was 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored. Justin Wilson picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit with one strikeout and one walk over one scoreless inning of work. Noah Syndergaard gets the start tonight as he enters with a 7-5 record, 4.10 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 137 strikeouts over 134 innings pitched.
Bullpen lets down Pirates
Pittsburgh lost by a 7-5 score Saturday night at home against New York as it allowed six runs over the final three innings to let a two-run lead slip away. Kyle Crick suffered the loss in relief as he allowed two earned runs on two hits with one strikeout and no walks over one inning. Starling Marte led the Pirates offense as he finished 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Bryan Reynolds went 4-for-4 with a double, a walk and three runs scored. Adam Frazier ended the game 2-for-5 with a run. Joe Musgrove will start this afternoon for Pittsburgh as he comes in with an 8-9 record, 4.23 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 104 strikeouts over 121 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 5-1 in their last six road games. New York is 6-2 in the last eight Syndergaard starts.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 1-7 in their last eight home games. Pittsburgh is 5-1 in the last six Musgrove home starts.
Prediction:
Syndergaard has had an uneven season, but is fully capable of shutting down any offense and I trust him more in this matchup than Musgrove even though they have similar numbers aside from strikeout rate. Pittsburgh has been in a freefall over the last month and New York is surging, so I’d rather place my money on the team on an upswing to win the series.
