From Rotoworld: Porcello spanned 5 1/3 innings on Thursday night, allowing seven hits, five runs and two walks in the Red Sox’s win over the White Sox. He notched six strikeouts while throwing 61 of his 103 pitches for strikes. Porcello was anything but sharp on Thursday but got the win anyway, finally getting some run support from the Red Sox, who poured on nine runs including seven in their first two innings. Thursday snapped a six-start winless streak for Porcello, who hadn’t won since June 23. The reigning Cy Young winner will take a 5-14 record into his next start Wednesday at Tampa Bay.
Odorizzi (back) will rejoin the Rays’ rotation on Wednesday against the Red Sox. Odorizzi gave up two runs but struck out six and didn’t walk anyone in a rehab start for High-A Charlotte last Friday to clear his way for a return. He’s missed the last couple weeks with a lower back strain.
