Gonzalez allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings in Saturday’s 6-2 victory over the Twins. He worked out of trouble throughout the game as Minnesota put men in scoring position in five of the six innings that Gonzalez pitched. He gave up a two-run home run to Jason Castro in the sixth but otherwise kept the Twins from scoring.
Tomlin (0-1) allowed six runs on seven hits and one walk across just four innings during Friday’s loss to the Diamondbacks. He struck out six as he allowed just one baserunner to reach through the first three innings. But after that point, he allowed two runs in a fourth-inning rally and was chased from the game after four men reached in the fifth.
