OUR PREDICTION
I whiffed on the under badly yesterday. I figured I was in trouble when the Braves hung four runs on the board early and then kept tacking on from there. I’m going the other way tonight, as I’m expecting another high-scoring meeting between these two teams. The total has gone over in five of Bill Welke’s last seven games behind home plate. Welke has been a great ‘over’ umpire for bettors, as he finished last season with a 19-12 over/under record and is a combined 55-30 o/u record from 2015-2017.
If you don’t like factoring umpires into your handicapping, then how about this: Anibal Sanchez…pitching at Coors. He allowed 26 home runs last season in 105 1/3 innings and he should have a few dingers in his arm again tonight. Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon and Carlos Gonzalez are all problematic for Sanchez tonight, while Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman and Preston Tucker should do enough damage against Bettis to contribute to the cashing the over for bettors.
