Price, Red Sox try to remain hot vs. Yanks
Perhaps no hurler in baseball has been as deadly as Boston’s David Price since the start of August. But that doesn’t mean he can’t improve when it comes to facing the team’s archrivals.
The lefty aims to reverse a rather alarming track record vs. the Yankees this afternoon, with a 1:05 p.m. ET first pitch at Fenway Park. Online sports book Bovada.lv gives Price & Co. odds of -260 to prevail, whereas New York represents a +220 underdog. The over/under run total rests at nine.
In his past seven appearances, the Red Sox’s prized offseason acquisition holds a 7-0 record with a 2.16 ERA. Yet he’s still trying to cure an aversion to the Bronx Bombers. Price is 1-2 with a 7.79 ERA in three turns against them in 2016. Catcher Brian McCann tends to fare extremely well vs. the perennial All-Star, toting a .345 career batting average off him.
Price’s mound counterpart arrives in the form of Bryan Mitchell. A left toe tear forced the righty to miss the first several months of the campaign. Most recently, he allowed five earned runs on nine hits in a 2 1/3-inning loss to the Dodgers.

Boston’s prolific bats blasted the Yanks in last night’s affair, 7-4, and the visitors probably won’t have closer Dellin Betances at their disposal here. We anticipate a lower score, though, with Price specifically fixing a large number of those ails.
