According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Yankees are -145 money line favorites to beat the A’s, who have odds of +125 to pull off the upset at home. With Masahiro Tanaka set to face Jesse Hahn in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9 runs.

Latest via Rotoworld: Tanaka was denied a win after allowing three runs — one earned — in 6 2/3 innings against the Angels. It should have been seven innings of one-run ball for Tanaka, but a Chase Headley error opened the door in the seventh. An RBI single afterwards knocked him from the game, and Tyler Clippard allowed a game-tying double after taking over with two outs. In the end, it was still an encouraging outing for Tanaka, who has fared much better paired with Austin Romine (as he was tonight) than with Gary Sanchez. Tanaka struck out eight and, despite two errors, threw just 89 pitches to get his 20 outs.
Hahn surrendered three runs on seven hits over five innings while taking a no-decision in Sunday’s loss to the Rays. Hahn was working with a 3-0 advantage through the first four innings, but the fifth proved problematic for him. In the frame, Mallex Smith, Corey Dickerson and Evan Longoria all picked up RBI hits, tying the game in the process. The 27-year-old right-hander will bring a 3.56 ERA and 1.34 WHIP into a home start against the lava-hot Yankees offense next time he toes the rubber.
Bet Today’s Yankees vs. A’s Game
OUR PREDICTION: Tanaka has struggled big time, but the Yankees are 8-0 in his last eight road starts versus a team with a losing record so the Bombers are worth a roll of the dice today. Plus, the Yanks are also 21-5 in Tanaka’s last 26 starts overall versus a team with a losing record and have won 14 of his lat 20 outings versus AL West competition. On the other side, the A’s are just 1-4 in Hahn’s last five starts and have dropped five of his last seven outings when he’s coming off five days of rest.
