Sunday MLB Free Pick

The Spread) – What is in store for the Detroit Tigers one day after ace Justin Verlander tossed his second career no-hitter versus the host Toronto Blue Jays?

View Current MLB Betting Odds

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Tigers -112 favorite in its game Sunday at Toronto, while the Blue Jays are +102 underdogs. The over-under is set at 9 runs.

Starting for the Blue Jays will be lefty Jo-Jo Reyes, who is 0-2 with a 4.66 earned-run average in six starts. Opposing him will be Detroit’s Brad Penny, who is 2-3 with a 5.23 ERA in seven starts.

Today’s game at 1:10PM EST comes less than 24 hours since Verlander allowed nothing but an eighth-inning walk in a 9-0 victory over Toronto.

According to the latest trends, Penny is 3-1 with a 4.10 ERA in seven career starts versus the Blue Jays. Reyes has never face the Tigers in his career.

MLB Free Pick: While I certainly do not expect Penny to toss a no-hitter, I like how he has thrown for the most part in his recent starts. On the flipside, I’ve never liked much of anything about Reyes and at times have wondered how he still has an MLB job. Detroit is a very streaky team and I think they will continue to ride this hot streak and the added momentum of the Verlander no-hitter.
