Phillies vs. Tigers Pick
The Detroit Tigers look for an interleague sweep this afternoon when they host the Philadelphia Phillies at 1:10PM ET.
The Tigers have Anibal Sanchez on the mound today while the Phillies put Aaron Nola on the mound. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Tigers are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -130 to win, while the Phillies have been given a money line of +120 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 8.5 runs.
Philadelphia is 25-21 overall, 12-12 on the road and 25-19-2 with the under. Detroit is 23-22 overall, 12-10 at home and 29-14-2 with the over. The Tigers picked up a 3-1 win on Tuesday night after winning 5-4 on Monday night. Detroit has won six straight over the Phillies, dating back to 2007.

The Tigers have won four straight and eight of their last nine. Pitching has been a big part of the current four-game streak, as they have held opponents to four runs or less in all of the games while the starters have gotten into the sixth. That has been a problem for Sanchez, who has been getting lit up the third time through the order and struggles to get to the sixth inning. His 6.23 ERA isn’t likely to turn around quickly and the Phillies have a solid starter in Nola on the mound. Look for the Phillies to avoid the sweep this afternoon.
