Saturday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The Braves and Red Sox will try to inch closer to securing Wild Card berths in their respective leagues on Saturday.
Thanks to their win over the Nationals and the Cubs’ victory over the Cardinals, the Braves now have a three-game lead in the NL Wild Card with only five games remaining. A win today over the Nationals coupled with a Cardinals’ loss to the Cubs will secure Atlanta a playoff berth in the National League.
Oddsmakers have installed the Braves as –155 money line favorites over the Nationals, who are +145 on the ML for today’s 1:05PM ET start. The Cardinals, meanwhile, are –200 money line favorites over the Cubs (+185) for their 1:10PM ET start in St. Louis.
In the American League, the Yankees and Red Sox were rained out yesterday in the Bronx and thanks to losses by both the Rays and Angels, Boston now has a 2.5-game lead over Tampa Bay and a 3.5-game lead over L.A. in the AL Wild Card Standings. The Red Sox will be back in New York today, while the Rays will once again host the Blue Jays and the Angels will host the A’s.
The Red Sox are +105 money line underdogs versus the Yankees at 4:10PM ET, while New York is –115 on the ML. The Rays have opened as –140 money line favorites over the Blue Jays (+130), while the Angels are –150 money line favorites versus the A’s (+140).
