Saturday MLB Opening Odds

(The Spread) – The pennant and wild card races in both leagues are really heating up throughout baseball. Check out Saturday’s lines.

With their win on Friday night, the Red Sox padded to their lead in the AL Wild Card standings over the Rays. Boston is now four games ahead of Tampa Bay with a chance to be five games up with a win on Saturday afternoon. Oddsmakers have made the Red Sox –170 money line favorites over the Rays, who are +160 on the ML for today’s 4:10PM ET.

In the National League, the Braves now only hold a 3.5-game lead over the Cardinals in the Wild Card race after losing to the Mets on Friday. Oddsmakers have installed Atlanta as a –175 money line favorites over New York, which is +165 on the ML. The Mets are 28-58 in their last 86 games against the Braves and 2-5 in their last seven meetings versus New York.

In the NL West, the Diamondbacks’ lead over the Giants continues to shrink. While San Francisco has won six straight, Arizona has dropped two in a row and is now only six games ahead of the Giants in the division after leading by 9.5 only a couple of days ago. The Diamondbacks (-155) will try to get back on track with a win tonight in San Diego (+145).

Speaking of the Giants, they’ll go for their seventh straight win when they take on the Rockies again in Colorado. According to latest MLB trends, the Giants are 12-5 in their last 17 games against the Rockies, while the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams in Colorado. San Fran is +130 on the money line, while Colorado is –140 and the over/under total is 9.5.
