Friday MLB Opening Odds & Totals
(The Spread) – Check out the opening odds for Friday’s action in the MLB, including the NL Central battle between the Cardinals and Pirates.
Entering today, the Pirates are currently .5 game out of first place in the NL Central, while the Cardinals are only 1.5 games back of the first-place Brewers. The Cards and Bucs will kick off a three-game series tonight in Pittsburgh at 7:05PM ET, where oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made St. Louis a –130 money line favorite. The Cardinals will send Chris Carpenter to the hill, while the Pirates (+120) will counter with Paul Maholm.
The Reds, who are 4.5 games back in the NL Central, will host the Atlanta Braves at 7:10PM ET. The Braves have opened as –115 money line favorites with Jair Jurrjens on the hill, while Cincinnati is +105 and will counter with Bronson Arroyo. According to latest MLB trends, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Cincinnati, while the Braves are just 1-4 in Jurrjens’ last five starts against the Reds.
Staying in the National League Central, the first-place Brewers open a three-game series with the defending World Series champion Giants at 10:15PM ET tonight. San Fran has opened as a –120 money line favorite, while Milwaukee is +110. The over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in San Francisco, but the under is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings overall.
Switching to the American League, the Boston Red Sox may have their hands full tonight against Mariners ace Felix Hernandez when the two teams square off at 7:10PM ET. Seattle is 4-1 in Hernandez’s last five road starts against the Red Sox, but the M’s are just 10-21 in their last 31 road games versus Boston.
